Improved diversity in the ranks is always a good thing. And anyone who had problems with the military themselves is a little kooky - I have problems with policy and things I'd like to improve and the military-industrial thing needs reform, but the military themselves? I'm grateful to them. And that reminds me that therecent hearings are finding that it was the JAGs who first started pointing out to the DoJ and higher ups that, um, torture was Illegal. Duh. But good for them for trying to stand up to their bosses about what's right.

That is pretty cool. I'm a little disturbed at the history of female promotion in the US armed forces, and hopefully this does point the way to a period of greater diversity and opportunity for women.

Seriously, by law women are excluded from combat roles? I did not know this. *frowny face*

The erst was in the Army and then the Nat'l Guard for... quite a while. (This may explain why we have lived so many places.) This is *amazing* news.
