within your tired ears, the traffic noise

from Poem Central? "We need sonnets, stat!
Get fourteen lines down quickly, then hit send!"

I hate you, < lj user=washa_way>. Your poetry
distracts me from the beta that requires
completion ere I can retire tonight.
(I will not even talk about my lack
of meals, because I know your much-loved spouse
would blow a gasket if she knew I still
have not partaken of a meal. Don't tell
her, please, okay? I thank you.) As to why
my Muse bemuses me with lack of tunes -
I wish I had an answer. Possibly
it's down to my MA, which traumatized
me so that, even now, a consort full
of viols strikes me vile indeed. And when
one's trying hard to craft a happy end
for Hamlet and Horatio (again,
don't tell - it's Yuletide - ask your spouse), the sad
and necessary fact is, nothing much
in my collection fits the period.
(Don't even venture to suggest that I
wrest those dire Danes from their historic set
and place them somewhere that the Spice Girls or
the Mountain Goats would suit. Don't say it. Thanks.)

In sum: my moccasins must you a mile
bestride some paths before you grok my bile.
