Good to see you back! Yeah, 5:50 sucks. I had to get up at 4am one day last week to catch a flight to DC from El Paso, I hate having to drive two hours to the airport, one of the prices you pay to live in a national forest at 9000'.
Oh, yeah. When I got married eight years ago, I moved up here. Certainly beats the summer heat of Phoenix, and when people aren't burning wood in their fireplaces, pretty much zero air pollution.
The only problem is no jobs for someone of my tech background, and poor quality movie theaters and book stores. But we make occasional forays to El Paso or back to Phoenix for better plundering opportunities. And it hit -20f for a few days February last year or the previous, but that's a pretty rare event.
Man, I could talk and talk about "crafts" and how I have a hard time labeling it. To be honest, it is exactly what I do, but if you tell people you are "crafting" they imagine I'm making projects with children involving popsicle sticks and glue. (Don't get me wrong, you can do some fucking amazing things with popsicle sticks and glue...) But I have a hard time saying I'm an artist or artisian because those sound so official and fancy and *gah*
I like your "makes". :D It is a thing that you make and that is just so accurate.

YES EXACTLY THIS. And no disrespect to the popsicle sticks. Or the glue. Or the almost inevitable glitter that typically accompanies them. But ARGH.
(Also: just so you know, the beautiful black-and-silver mask you made for me at BP 2012 hangs on my memory board - corkboard full of random things that make me happy, located right next to my homedesk - and makes me think of you and smile every time I see it.)
"Artisan" seems easier than "artist." Why is that, I wonder?

I had no idea you'd relocated to such refined climes. Zoinks and yoicks and omgwtfwow. Hope that locale is treating you well!
