The Blueprint for me putting my foot in your ass....

Just to be clear, the Eagles did not unveil some magical "blueprint" for stopping the Patriots. The basic strategy, as far as I can tell, was to get pressure on Brady, keep Moss from making big plays, and pray the other receivers don't kill you. exactly exactly exactly. it comes down to making adjustments and playing smart football. the patriots (a lot like the other 2 teams you mentioned) are criminally efficient. you need to minimize the impact of that by being smart. the problem is that parity in the NFL means that 85% of the teams are lousy enough to lose to just about ANYONE on any given sunday. these teams need there to be a blueprint for beating the patriots beyond "play very good football," which is not something most of them can maintain for 4 straight quarters...

I don't even think it's the other TEAMS that are pushing the whole "blueprint" thing. Every coaching staff realizes there's no magic formation/personnel group/play that's going to stop a great football team. It's just a matter of great execution of a solid game plan with a lot of luck. I think it's the media and analysts that need to pretend that a football game is some kind of chess match.

Sometimes I think people believe that teams and players are some kind of weird Pokemon or something, and their stats are actually some kind of magical "power bar" that determines exactly how they will play. Hence the belief that certain teams are locks to win particular games. Which is why you never see a broke bookie.
