So, I was dozing on the couch and woke up to a cultural train wreck on the TV: VH1's Fabulous Life Presents Secret Lives of the Mega Rich. Good gravy! I was transfixed. Some dude has a whole bunch of expensive cars, and sometimes, he gets laid in them. One car, he's "had sex in three times, believe it or not." WOW! Another dude says that he "

I'm reading a book on the 1930's right now and it has stories of ladies spending more on their lap dogs at one meal than it would cost to feed 3 Japanese workers. Guess some things never change. Of course, back then, that sparked uprisings (communist, socialist, fascist, anarchist, imperialist), not worshipful TV shows.

Maybe VH1 is trying to spark an uprising?

We can always hope that's their motivation, anyway. I'd rather it be a revolutionary plot than acknowledge that there are enough people out there who enjoy this programming to create a market for it.
