So, yes. It's official. I am now a writer. I make money by writing. (In fact, I've made a bit over three hundred dollars writing so far, although I'm not going to see it until November.) That is really cool. And it's almost cool enough to offset the central irony - that these days I'm being paid to write about video games that I don't have time to play, because I'm working two jobs.
I'm exaggerating a bit. But I'm still working on finding my groove for locating stories and getting things written up quickly, and as a result I'm not wholly where I want to be in terms of time spent working. That's kind of a downside.
The upside? I'm learning the ropes quickly, I'm making a name for myself, I earned major props from my boss last night, and there is the very simple fact that I am making money as a writer. If I could find another gig like this, I could quit my current day job and just do this full-time. And that extra cash is going to be well-loved, let me tell you what.
However, that's not the point of this post. Far more important is the fact that we're approaching the midway point of October, and there are people on my friend list here whom I'd like to do at least a little something for in celebration of that holiday near the end of December. I am not going to be a rich man, even with the additional money from my writing job, but since many of the people here know me because of my writing, the answer suggests itself.
So I'm offering writing as a Christmas gift. Tell me what you would like me to write you as a Christmas present, and I will write it. I place no limitations on fandoms, environs, or anything, save for the fact that I'd really prefer not to do anything that leans toward the fictional red-light district. (I'm learning my limitations.) I figure a month and a half plus change is enough time for me to get things written for the folks on my friend list. Depending on how this works, I might wind up making a tradition of it, but we'll see how things go this year first.
So, just to reiterate - friends of mine, give me your requests for fiction or nonfiction, and it shall be written as a Christmas gift. Let's get this working.
Yes,
buongiornodaisy, I already know what you want.
And no, this isn't in place of Thanatopenia. Next chapter of that coming Real Soon Now, probably this weekend when I've got time to focus.
