Walking Away

Jan 19, 2010 00:41

I did a terrible thing. I walked out on my sole travel companion in the middle of our ski holiday in Vermont. Just paid hundreds of dollars in ticket changes, packed up, and left in the middle of the night in a taxi.
If someone did that to me, I'd never speak to the person again, and I really didn't want to resort to that. But I couldn't take it ( Read more... )

I know it's too late, but you could have saved the few hundred bucks by coming to stay w/ me. I'm not too far away from Vermont.

Anyway, it's better to be true to yourself than to put up w/ someone you don't enjoy being with on your holidays. i support your decision to leave!

Oh its ok. I needed to go back to Dubai to rest anyway. But wish I knew about the option coz I probably would have popped by to say hello!
Where do you live exactly?

Maybe they were tears of relief? It sounds like it was a very stressful trip. Also, I think it speaks well of you that you left a person who was making you unpleasant, not to mention so unhappy! I am glad that you left. I think you did the right thing. You weren't babysitting him!

Probably tears of relief as well.
I suspect I am cursed in not being able to get along with the people I like.
I fear I see a pattern.

I don't think there's anything wrong with not getting along with some people. I mean, it's important to sit down and reflect on why, and all that, and think about your own behaviour, but sometimes it's not you, it's them! Sometimes it's a bit you, mostly them, other times, who knows why you don't get along, but you don't Have to!

I also agree with dieseldawn - some friends are best seen in small doses (and I don't mean you!) I had a friend I travelled with once, it was most definitely the last time EVER I would travel with her.

Thanks. I never harboured any hope of keeping our friendship when I decided to leave. We haven't spoken since then, and now I feel like I should apologise for leaving, except I don't want to. I'm sorry I had to leave, but I'm not sorry I left. :S

So you don't think I should ever bother anymore right? I deleted him from MSN so I won't be tempted to talk to him or stare at his name when he's online. Then I got an add request from him which means he probably deleted me, changed his mind, and added me again. I dunno. I accepted.
