Bent: Seattle was ready for another season. It had been two years since the end of its successful year long run, but not once had MBC let up about getting the boys back in the house. Once all five of them agreed to a reunion special, the network pulled out all the stops. The house had been renewed to sparkling cleanliness, fully renovated and ( Read more... )

Hal had arrived several hours early, hoping to get settled in again before everything got too hectic. Four and a half hours and three Hanson albums after his arrival, his shirts were hung up and color-coded once again in his old closet, which thankfully didn't appear to be housing any spiders this time, his daily records of the past ten years were sorted on the shelves, and his shoes were organized alphabetically by designer ( ... )

Jimmy had no idea what time it was; his cell phone was dead, and he had never worn a watch in his life. Well, the sun was still up, so he couldn't be considered late. He carried the his bags slowly, wincing as he saw Daray bolt to the porch and begin to paw at the front door.
He better not scratch any paint... And no one better answer the door. Jimmy quickened his pace and opened the door, which Daray took no time to run in and start barking madly.
"Knock it off!" But the dog didn't hear him; he was already exploring the house to see what had changed since the last time, sniffing at things and occasionally barking.
Jimmy sighed and tried to close the door by tapping it with his foot; a bit too hard, he guessed, because it slammed loudly. He then began his journey up the stairs with the two heavy bags, hoping the dog would calm down soon.

After a few minutes of relative quiet, Hal concluded that whoever had just entered the house apparently wasn't going to come up to the third floor to check on the pool cues or anything, and got up off his bed with a sigh. However, he still wasn't going to expend any more precious bad sandwich energy than necessary. Sticking his head out the door, he simply called out, "HEY. Who's there?"

Jimmy had just made it to the door of his room when he heard Hal's voice. He dropped his bags right there and walked to the bottom of stairs leading to the third floor.
"Jimmy!" he shouted, cupping his hands around his mouth for added volume. "Is anyone else here?" It occured to him then that starting a conversation would lead to him never getting fully unpacked. And he still had to chase down that dog before someone else showed up.

Well, thought Hal, that was a bit of a relief. "NO, I--" He paused, then gave another exasperated sigh and leaned back against the door frame. "WELL, I'M NOT GOING TO STAND HERE AND HAVE A CONVERSATION THAT CONSISTS ENTIRELY OF SHOUTING."

Hiroshi was feeling no small amount of trepidation as he quietly entered the house. He hefted several heavy suitcases, covered in creatively ripped plaid and little happy skull prints, and glanced around the room. It seemed pretty much just how he left it, only perhaps a little cleaner. Hiroshi stood there, taking in the living room as it stirred memories and emotions.

I don't know if I'm ready for this...

Well, there wasn't much he could do about it. The instructions said his room was the same as when they'd first started the show, so the third floor. Ugh. Hiroshi peered up the spiral staircase, biting his lip. He probably shouldn't have packed so much. Nothing else to do but carry it up...

From his position near the door frame Jimmy thought he heard the door open or close. If it was his imagination, it was incredibly good at adding the sound of footsteps.
"Hey Hal, I think someone else has arrived. Want to go see?" Jimmy peered out of the doorway.
He leaned his head out and called out just as Hal had done to him earlier. "Hey! Is somebody here or am I imagining footsteps?"

"No, not especially eager to see," Hal answered quietly as he sifted through the telephone bills.

Hiroshi paused lugging his suitcases halfway up the first spiral. That sounded like...

"Jimmy? Is that, uh, is that you?" he called tentatively up the stairs, looking around for the source of the voice.

Two hours after the appointed move-in time, Ruby stepped out of her red Jaguar convertible and walked up to the the front door, making a note to get the landscaper fired, as she certainly didn't remember telling him to plant fuschia petunias in the front yard.

Once inside, she kicked the door closed behind her, her stiletto heel leaving a small indentation. "All right, time for a meeting!" she called. "Let's get everyone down here!"

Jimmy was too distracted to hear the door slam, but was alerted to the presence of someone in the house when Daray began to bark his head off and scratch at the door. He pulled Daray back and managed to step out the door and close it (with much effort) when he heard Ruby's voice calling for a meeting.

He was about to dash down when he wondered if Hal and Hiro had heard Ruby; it wouldn't hurt to make sure. He ran up the stairs, calling out to them.
"Hey! Hal and Hiro, you guys coming downstairs?"

"Maybe if we ignore it it'll go away," came Hal's voice from behind the door.

Jimmy rapped on Hal's door to announce that he wasn't leaving without bringing them downstairs.
"Hal... It's Ruby. Do you really think the same logic applies? Open the door, and let's get downstairs."
