If you can have to deal with high school drama and still come home glowing, I think that's definitely one of the biggest signs that you're in the right profession.

And if it makes you feel any better...we never have snow days in Cleveland. Ever. Despite all the snow. My cousin Lauren just confirmed this. In her 12 years at public school, she says they have only ever had ONE school day. So yeah, Ohio is better at plowing and taking care of snow problems...but you have to pay a price.

Thanks! I hope it's a sign I'm doing the right thing and not just an over-smiling moron. =P
That stinks that you don't have snow days much out there. Good that they can clear the roads, but there's a definite downside to that. =) I seem to be in the one school district around here that is anti-snow day. Out of the two messy-weather (or potentially messy-weather) days since I've started, alllll the other schools around me have had off, but not mine! Ah well. I think I'll live. =)

I agree with you on the whole not being able to touch the kid thing... I've had students ask me for a hug... I think the law's more about touching kids when they don't want to be touched... And I think you'll do just fine... yes, I've said you can't take it personally, but that's for when the kids are being little shits and criticizing your every move. But you can share their sadnesses and their triumphs. And you've survived attitude numerous times at CTY! (You can still call me to swap lesson ideas, though!) Smooches, Meg

I suppose that makes sense. But of course they try and tell you it's a "never do this" thing, and I think if you use some basic common sense, then you're ok. And you're right! I have survived attitude before--so there! *lol* That still doesn't mean it's fun to deal with, but it's getting better, though.
And yay for getting LJ accounts!
*huggles*
