That was Rossini playing during the Tower / prison / bank break-ins. The conclusion of "The Thieving Magpie" overture.

But yeah, that's a fun supposition.

Good to know, though...it sure didn't sound like Bach, but I wasn't familiar enough with all his works to say for certain.
