Canisius geeks rock
Just got back from game night at Canisius with Camille. Very tired; will post anyway and edit tomorrow. Had a lot of fun --- it was just like scifi club of yore! There was Settlers of Catan, Zombies, and Citadels. People (not me!) played DDR and this DDR-ripoff, and both were moderately amusing. In which I rant about the "singular they"
"They" is not a singular pronoun. The sentence "When someone goes out in the rain without their jacket, they get wet; someone told me, and I hate them" is ungrammatical, nasty-sounding and seems lazy. Use he and his, which are understood to apply to all people. If those words give you fits of political correctness nervosa, recast the sentence in ( Read more... )
