In an attempt to turn my CV-style chronological resume into a functional, skills-driven resume, I've been breaking each job down into its component skills. I also skimmed through letters of reference and personnel reviews to gather more ideas. ... sorting out your CV. I've just had to do the same here, although it was a lot less painful for me as I was applying within the same sector. As you say in your post, it provides a good opportunity to reflect on what you've done and to think about what's been good and, perhaps more importantly, what's been not so good. Anyway, with six pages to cull down from, you should be able craft a number of different CVs depending on the peculiarities of the jobs that you're after.
