Yesterday I passed a lady riding a pony cart on the sidewalk of North Lombard street. The lady and the pony went by with a friendly smile as I stood there and marveled. (Marveled for long enough that I completely missed the chance to take a photo). Perhaps the lady had decided it was cheaper (or more fun) to drive the pony to the store to get ( Read more... )

I totally agree with what you said about Harry Potter GoF. I had been hearing everywhere that it was so amazing, but I just thought it was so-so. I really loved the first two films though.

I also liked the first two HP films the best. In addition to being extremely pretty to look at, they allowed much more character depth and showed a lot more of life in the wizarding world. And I have nothing against dark films either, I just didn't felt like GoF was a bit more violent than it needed to be--without the scary stuff actually being half as scary as it should have been. And I find dark films can far more effective when their darkness is contrasted with things that are beautiful and light. (LOTR being a near-perfect example of that--up until the overly drawn out ending at least)

I do so love these little surprises that life tosses our way at times. lsanderson had one of these photo opportunities recently too, where he saw a woman driving a classic open-top car, filled with flowers -- and had no camera with him ( ... )

I know what you mean about the handwritten letters. I've been writing letter back and forth with a friend of mine for about six years...I used to have another pen-pal, but our letters back and forth between eachother have slowed for some reason. I love recieving letters by snail mail far more than by e-mail...though I too grow impatient, as well as hesitant due to the risk of the letter getting lost in the mail -especially during the holidays.

I like the Harry Potter very much, but I haven't read the books -so I understand how it might not have met your own expectations.

I hope you've seen the Narnia movie by now (I know, it just came out yesterday) or that you'll see it soon. It is fantastic and, in my mind, perfect! They didn't stray from the book one bit and all the characters were great and looked and sounded and acted fantastically! -You'll love it!:)
