I finally bought the quill-style pen I had been craving, along with a nice variety of nibs. And it turned out I already had a number of different colored bottles of the right kind of ink in amongst my art supplies! (I used them as dyes to airbrush the phoenix puppet years ago ( Read more... )

Back in my days as a cartoonist, doing my cartoons the old-fashioned way was my goal, since the lines are cleaner and more stylish. It was not an easy skill to master, prone to messes and errors best overcome through practice and experience. However I changed career directions before I was able to master that skill. Hmmm. You have made me think. I wonder if the local art-supply store has any decent nibs? Have fun!

This is cool! Within the past month or so I've developed a renewed interest in Calligraphy. My Dad had tried to get me interested in calligraphy years ago...bought the pens and tips and ink pots for me...but I just wasn't that into it ( ... )
