I'd never heard of that! I have to say that Selene's artistic endeavors make me wish I could go back in time and actually do something useful while I was still in my 20's. Unfortunately, when I was young and lived where I did, that sort of thing was not especially encouraged. Now I feel too old and out of the loop to be involved in any of the art scene around here.
I guess we all see our own lives very differently to how others see them. I always thought of you as being in the midst of a whole assortment of Spooky/Piratey/Victorian/Gothic type artsy/craftsy friends! Is that not an art scene?
Ha! Not really, I only have a couple friends in Portland, most of my friends live in Seattle. Now they are a fabulous bunch! I never want to attend any art shows or anything because I don't really have the style or wardrobe for it.
One other thought.... If by art scene, you mean art shows... have you considered revisiting the Spooky Bazaar idea, but doing it as more of an actual art exhibition instead of a art/craft market? I'm planning on taking next year off from doing any kind of art/craft markets, but would be quite interested in helping put together a group art show in the fall--something spooky, naturally! I'm not sure yet what Gallery spaces might be interested in such a thing, but as you already have a great list of contacts for that kind of art, we are already part of the way there. I'm imagining the sort of fabulous show that cannibol often does. Does this idea appeal to you, (or does it just make you feel more "old and out of the loop"? ;)

A crazy old house full of broken dolls we do not.
We just have to hope that Portland will continue to pop such things up often enough, akin perhaps to the habits of mushrooms. ;)
