I want to teach kids how to read. Either as an elementary school teacher or as some sort of reading specialist. I have been thinking about becoming a teacher off and on for several years, and this last week I have decided to do it for sure

Take this as good or bad but MANY schools in California have teachers on "Emergency Credentials" this means that with a BA/BS you can start teaching, and work on your degree while employed as a teacher. It has to do with schools being short handed, half my teachers in HS were un-credentialed and some in elementary school too.

Yea, I plan on subbing or something while in the process of getting my credential. We shall see what happens. I never had a teacher who had one, but a friend of mine taught with one for a long time in what started out as a subbing job because the teacher quiet half way through the school year.
