How do you get a substitute teaching job without a credential? I'm curious because my boyfriend is trying to get his credential, but he's sort of struggling to figure out how to get the experience hours that the program requires. Do you just go to a school and introduce yourself to the vice principal or what? If you have any ideas, will you let me know?

The credential I am talking about specifically is to be a real teacher. As for subbing, you have to sign up for it. Basically, if you have a BA/BS and have passed the CBEST, you are set. You just have to pay a lot and wait 4 to 6 weeks for it to show up. That is why I gave so much notice for my job.

Ok, so lets say you take the CBEST and receive your score. Then where do you sign up to sub? Does each high school have its own application for that kind of thing, or do you go to the school district, or are there substitute teacher staffing agencies or something?

Have John call the county office of Education and make an appointment with someone from HR. They will help you from there.
