I was the maid of honor for my friend Zoe! At first I was nervous I would have to make some kind of speech, but apparently maid of honors don't have to do that (?) -- At least, that's what they told me.

I threw a bridal shower party (a tame day-time party with her mom, grandma, aunts in attendance) then took her on a "girls night out" bachelorette party that night with all her girlfriends.

I also helped her address some wedding invitations.

Day of, (during the ceremony) I held her bouquet while she was exchanging rings with her hubby.

That's about it!

My maid of honor threw me a wedding shower, helped me coordinate the "bachelorette" (eight friends sharing a hot tub at the Tea Room followed by chocolate desserts at Chocolat!), and helped me with the wedding dress shopping. She gave a short speech at the reception. She was also "in charge" of the other b'maids - she did all the planning and coordinating so I didn't have to.

Her most important role, for me, was being the person on the phone. I called her about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING wedding-related, from "WHY CAN'T I FIND A DRESS THAT FLATTERS MY ENORMOUS BOOBS" to "OMG I'm looking at our cocktail napkins and bawling because I'm so excited and emotional" and she listened with love and support. Be the person your bride can always call, and you'll be exactly what she needs.
