humankind is not without mistake // unlike that which they build with their hands

Midterms tomorrow, in a class with content that is not only tedious, but I have also been neglecting slightly. I caught up on my homework, but studying for the test has been a massive info dump and I'm not sure how much sunk in tonight.

Tomorrow's going to be stressful. SO, meme (ganked from redbrunja who I am in an eternal game of meme-tag with!):

Okay, ( Read more... )

Three icons (any three, old or new) you’re really digging right now.

Three old icons that you don't necessarily use very often or are from fandoms you're not active in anymore, but you still can't quite bring yourself to replace?

This is a good one. I've had it FOREVER but I rarely, rarely use it. Also, I've been thinking I maybe should to delete my LOTS icons - or at least some of them, but I don't really want to.

What’s one fucked up narrative trope that you enjoy? (Fucked up by your definition, i.e. not something you’d approve of in RL.)

*wheezes* Oh wow, honestly, a lot of my favorite tropes are things I don't approve of in real life. (Fair warning, this list is full of fairly objectively disturbing and depressing things). For the most part, I'm able to separate fiction and real life really well, which I think is what allows me to do it, but I also understand that everyone has different comfort levels, and this can sound REALLY BAD if people aren't expecting it ( ... )

Not to be bitchy, but duh. I am the LAST person in the world you need to explain the concept of 'approve in fiction, disapprove in real life' too.

The first thing that comes to mind is anything having to do with body horror and loss of bodily autonomy, particularly for men.

Did we talk about elements of body horror with Bucky Barnes in Cap 2?

However, in real life I'm pretty staunchly against the death penalty, because Prison Industrial Complex combined with human error.

PREACH. Just the fact that it COSTS MORE to execute someone than to imprison them for life is enough for me to go 'not worth the tax payer dollars' EVEN LEAVING ASIDE all the other misuses of the prison system.'

Marvel has hired you to write SCIENCE LADIES! The Jane Foster/other characters of your choice extra feature for one of the DVD releases. Tell me about that film-ette.

Characters you’d like to import into the MCU (from anywhere) and why.

(I'm taking 'from anywhere' to mean any canon)

Commander Jane Shepherd, from Mass Effect, because she and Steve would get along really well morality-wise, assuming Paragon!Jane (and she's from the future, he's from the past, they both died doing the right thing, so they'd both be soldiers out of time).

Harry Dresden, Dresden Files. He'd have a lot to offer as a wizard archetype.

Johannes Cabal + Leonie, esp to see them interact with the AoS cast. Cabal likes professionalism and hates heroic idealism, so it would be an interesting mix (I also like to think he would instantly recognize that Fitz is incompetent and decide to use him as a human shield at the closest opportunity). Plus I have just decided that any universe hopping Cabal does has to involve Leonie.

Regina from OUAT, because the MCU could use a lady villain with Regina's emotional range, depth, power, and damage. EDIT: Or even not a villain. Maybe that's her opportunity to step outside the role she's been cast in.

Oooh, I love the idea of two soldiers out of time in different directions, as it were ( ... )

MCU characters you'd like to see show up in another canon? Which canon and why?
