But isn't it possible to die from sleep deprivation, say if you tried to not sleep for a whole month? That doesn't sound like a nice way to die, either. I have no idea how the Freddy Krueger thing is supposed to work, though -- if you can just wait for a week and not sleep for that amount of time, will he go away?
You're right, though, that at any given point in time, it would seem like the better option to take more stimulants than to nod off and face certain death.
Yes, you can die of sleep deprivation. But I think brain damage usually doesn't even set in till like 5 or 6 days and the people in the Freddie Krueger movies don't make it anywhere near that long.
Wow. Even the episode of Stargate with the "Sleep & Die" plot they threw every kinda pill/drink/etc. at them to stay awake. Course Airforce (pilots anyway) have always had special allowances.
Well it's not that special. Basically they get an adderall for their flights. I think it's just amphetamine they get and not meth but I don't remember. In any case it's at most 10mg so it's in the range of your standard add script anyway.
