Interesting how much a hurricane can affect a presidential election.  Gustav, and probably Hanna are both screwing with the Republican Convention's schedule, but at the same time, it has also allowed McCain a lot more positive press coverage and has taken all eyes off Obama.  In fact, I haven't even seen him in the news since Thursday, and that's a ( Read more... )

Feminists don't vote for pro-lifers.

Alaska has no taxes. Being governor of it for less than 2 years, when oil companies and the Feds fund your state is minimal experience.

No, Alaska isn't a particularly hard state to run.

But, a state is still a big thing, in 2 years, you've still got a budget, you've still got policy to set and you'll probably have one or two emergencies and disasters to deal with.

Being governor is still being a person where the buck stops, where there is no higher authority to always consult or appeal to and the nature of the job is direct and hands-on an individual (yes, you have tons of advisors and stuff, but in the Senate you can literally shrug off all your duties, you don't have any specific responsibilities).
