Oh ye gods, I really think that my life has been eaten by the huge whale of a game that is LA Noire. Seriously, I'm finally living out my life long dream of being a 1940's detective. I really want do just walk around at work in a trilby, inspecting everything and being suspicious of everyone...although I'm kind of suspicious of everyone at work ( Read more... )

I was going to pick up LA Noire at some point, because I wanted to be a trilby-wearing detective also.

Though I've heard conflicting things on my flist. Some people love it to pieces, and some people are horribly frustrated with some of its issues. I thought I'd wait until it was a bit cheaper, and see for myself.

Ugh, it is so much fun.

What kinds of issues? The only thing I can think of that may rile some people up are the opinions some of the characters have of others, but I kind of put that down to just how different people were back then. Um...if that makes sense?

I think I've mostly heard people complaining about bugs and crashes, and the extreme linearity of the story, that nothing you do really affects anything. Also, people seem to be annoyed about the 'doubt' option being a possible minefield.

But still...playing detectives! And it's getting fairly high scores from the gaming review sites.

Ah yes. See, I haven't crashed yet, and the only glitch I've encountered so far was my partner getting stuck to a tree a few days ago (I actually love glitches in game, they make me laugh so much! As long as it doesn't make me re-set). So far it's been nothing compared to some glitchtastic games I've played recently *coughFalloutNewVegascough*. The Doubt option can indeed be a pain in the arse though yes. All in all though, despite how linear the game it's still great fun. Also, it's over 3 disks and the map is HUGE.

I would recommend you wait a bit for the price to go down then give it a go. Despite the short comings it's great ^_^

I am glad that LA Noire has glomped your life so thoroughly :) It sounds like you've found your perfect match. I would happily volunteer myself as your sidekick. I love the clothes of that era, if nothing else.

Oooh what interesting Cumberbatch news :) Thanks for sharing that.

And I'm sorry to hear that you're falling out of love with Doctor Who. I did enjoy Sat's ep, if only for the awesome Victorian lesbian lizard and her human companion. I want a show with them in!!

I am very happy for it to glomp my life as you say. Gosh, I just....ngh it's such a brilliant game! You can certainly be my sidekick, you can be the driver while I hang out the passenger window and shoot at criminals ^_^

I am sorry that I've fallen out of love with Doctor Who as well tbh :( I don't dislike it overall...I just really don't like the current story arc at all. I've never been fond of River Song so to find out that she's the brat of my favourite character just made me facepalm. I saw that coming. I reckoned she was either Amy's daughter or the Doctor's wife, and I wouldn't be surprised if we found out she was both. The Moff obviously loves her character, but the more she shows up with her terrible double entendres the less interest I have. Also they seem to have ruined Amy's friendship with the Doctor now soooo.....

But yes, I loved the Silurian and her Victorian girlfriend (they made me think of Sherlock and John a bit :S) They do need a spin off!

Sorry for the essay, love!
