A Week Without Home Internet

Apr 06, 2011 23:31

Last Wednesday my internet connection went out. After a day, I called Comcast to have them figure out what had gone wrong this time. ( The things that had gone wrong are numerous )

hell, evil, isp, fail, comcast

While I've had issues with Comcast from time to time, I have to say my net speed today is higher than it's ever been at home before. I'm up to more than 20Mbps download speed according to speedtest.net. My upload speeds aren't anything special, but 20 down is higher than the business speed at Copy.com used to be... (often averaged 11 on a good day)

My speedtest results are similar to yours, and that's a good thing - but the inconsistent customer care makes me feel like those numbers aren't always worth the hassle. Also, I'm convinced that Comcast is throttling many of my activities (Netflix, Torrents, VPN) while allowing Speedtest results to look great.

Comcast is the devil.

Somehow, that statement isn't strong enough. Satan incarnate? The evilest evil with a side of evily-evil sauce?

As for the router not being "initialized" - they have to manually map the MAC address of your modem/router/what-have-you to your account. When I finally figured that out, it was easy to use the magic words "MAC Address" to make them realize I am not an idiot and to please stop jerking me around. Ugh.
