I think it's time for me to thoroughly express my feelings of frustration and disappointment regarding a certain Shounen JUMP series. I've had these thoughts for a YEAR now and I need to get them off my chest. So, here lies a post wherein I explain why I have fallen out of love with the current One Piece manga saga. Expect spoilers.

I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to pick up One Piece again until Zoro comes back. He was the reason I kept reading back in the early chapters. He was the reason I stuck it out through a lot of stuff.
I might be tempted to come back if Sanji shows up first, but it really depends on what he's doing. (I really hate it when he's just doing his "omg girls~" stuff. I like serious Sanji ala Water 7/Ennis Lobby.)
Though you want to know my biggest problem with One Piece at the moment (other than this of course)... the lack of development beyond the superficial for Zoro and Sanji. Yes, they've gotten stronger and yes, they've (well Zoro I suppose) have gotten closer to their goals... but where's their arc of character development ( ... )

And, I concur - Sanji and Zoro definitely need character-building arcs. Zoro, I suspect, will probably get his once this whole current mess is over with. After all, things were swinging that way, what with his sacrificing his body to save Luffy back in Thriller Bark. Not to mention those sustaining injuries. But, then they all got separate and jazz... Maybe him being with Perona will trigger something.
Sanji really needs more time in the spotlight, too

I'd really love something on them. In all the backstories that feature kids they're the two are just "lol we showed up one day" whereas everyone else at least traced back to some sort of hometown at least.
