I broke up with Billy. Towards the end he really let his truly abusive colors shine through. I am heartbroken and relieved and I know that the something-better I deserve is coming.

You are so strong. I know it hurts to leave someone you love even when he treats you poorly, but I can see from this that you're already feeling some of the fabulous excitement that comes with having the ability to bring new and positive people into your life. I think the pain of a long-standing relationship ending is worthwhile for that feeling alone, and more so for all the great men whose love you have yet to experience. It's also wonderful to see you showing a confident, healthy sense of who you are and what you deserve in your social relationships.
