I've never shed a single tear for a fic before but this one got me. I know what it's like to be Merlin and think someone you love is going to die. I had a happy ending though, so I'm gonna pretend Merlin did too hehe.

In my mind, a happy ending is totally plausible here. I just wanted to capture those few minutes where the fear is paralyzing and the emotions run so high and the world stops, you know? I wanted to focus on the fear of death and loss, rather than any actual death and loss. If that makes sense.

No, it makes absolute and perfect sense and you did it perfectly. It's such a hard thing to do without it being trashy or lame but you achieved it and it is just so beautiful and heartbreaking.

OMG OMG OMG how can such a short fic make me cry so much!!! I was the OP on kinkme and this is EXACTLY what I had in mind, so thank you so much! It's like you read my mind with the "I don't want you to hear this" line, because I always imagined Arthur hanging up before the end!!! Even though the previous fill had a happy ending, I really love the ambiguity of this ending (though I like to think he lived ^^) Oh, and the "shh" line- made me shiver!!! omg, crying again! Great job. We actually need a sequel now! Stuff ambiguity lol!

That was emotional, and beautiful. You can count another person who cried over this. It reminded me about a song that I think dealt with this exact situation. It's why I clicked the link. But this was far better than that song.

The song that I was reminded of was 'At the Bottom of Everything' by Bright Eyes. Mostly it was just the little bit in the beginning when the vocalist was telling a story about a lady on an airplane. Their lyrics on that album always make me think. Probably why I still listen to it even if it isn't my type of music.
