I'll raise you another awkward gig. Back when I was in university, I went to see indie-band Sleeper with a friend. Bit odd audience:

<-Stage-> <------14 year olds------> <-us-> <---parents of 14yr olds--->

Strangely, we didn't rush to be at the front of that.

Very good gig though.

Ooooh, that sounds like a School Battle of the Bands event. How strange.

I saw Iron Maiden when Funeral for a Friend were supporting them. I'd never heard them before and thought they were fun to watch, at least, and so was bopping around next to some massive, middle-aged, hairy Maiden fans who had their arms firming crossed and scowls that could be seen from space.

I felt really, really old going to gig with a mate (I tagged along to keep her company). I can't remember the name now, some indie/emo band that gets a lot of airplay.

It was all 14 year olds in skinny jeans around their ankles trying to be "ironic", the girls sitting behind us didn't know that the music being played before the gig was by Led Zepplin (Stairway to Heaven, they thought it was by Pink Floyd, then said that it must be being covered and is live - they couldn't see the stage from their seats). I wanted to smack them and give them an education. Actually, I enjoyed the lobby music more.

Was never more bored at a gig in my life.
