I just wish I could get over it! I'm 28 years old I just want to be able to say yeah my Dad was a dead beat and he didn't give a crap about me and not have it hurt

i dunno, honey. it may or may not help to know that i'm a lot older than you and my mother can still reduce me to a quivering mess sometimes with her disapproval, just over the phone! /o\ i'm not sure we really get over it. we just manage to find a place for it in our psyche, that leaves most of our lives free to just get on with things...
