I believe you went out to dinner with me one night in a land far far away and at a time when rocks were soft...

I did notice that night, that you were rather glamourous... So unless my memory is mistaken, you are g=quite capable of it... Just saying...

I have no memories of particular glamour on that or any other occasion, but I will graciously accept the compliment. (Though, as you point out, that was in another country, and besides ...). I'm pretty sure I wasn't wearing nail polish though.

I haven't bitten my nails since I was about seven, but if I'm stressed or sick they disintegrate. I really am a failure as a girl - I've never had a manicure, or a facial, though I have had a pedicure since I was given it as a gift, and very pleasant it was too, albeit rather ticklish.

Most of the nail places I've walked past seem to specialise in unrealistic highly-coloured talons. Since I regard my fingernails primarily as tools, I've been loathe to submit, but I gather it's possible to come up with a slightly more natural effect.

Eat Millet. See if you can find millet flakes at the health food shop and eat them often. I include millet flakes in my morning porridge and in crumble topping etc. and it has made an amazing difference to my nail strength. My doctor recommended it to me when my hair was falling out after my operation, for both hair and nails.

I've had a jar of millet in my pantry for a long time, with no clear idea of what to do with it. I suspect it's reasonably indestructable, which might be why it's good for nails. I shall hunt up millet recipes.

I am no less keen than I usually am about your recipes. However, I have been told that millet is best reserved for making brooms and I suspect the same may be true of Chinese badgers.
