You know you're old when ...

You go to a party and the hands on  your bottom are inevitably those of small children.

And you leave at 8 because your lift's going then, but you're perversely pleased at being home in time for a night of crime on the ABC.

Or when you own a small child and when you leave the party early, you don't mind so much because you still have most of an evening ahead of you (snuggled up with the ABC and probably some knitting)

When I see you next at a party I will be sure to get my hands on your bottom...

If you're there, it qualifies as a party!

When do you arrive? What are your movements? I'm really looking forward to seeing you soon.

I always console myself with the fact that the parties now start perversely early to allow for children. it started at 4pm and the last guests left at about 1am, which then ended up being 2am because of daylight savings. so if the party started at 7pm it would really have ended at 4am (5am daylight savings).

that's pretty respectable! see? we're still young and ready to party!
