I've just heard that Edward Woodward has died. He was a fine actor, particularly in Breaker Morant, but I'll leave it to others with more knowledge of popular culture to write his obituary

I knew an Edward Woodward joke too, but I can only remember the punchline, which was "Because Edward Woodward would"

also, one of our family friends used to love the way his lip curled with disdain. no one could do it better.

I read an obituary today which mentioned many of Woodward's roles, but not the one in which I first encountered him: Callan. Gritty British TV spy drama. I enjoyed that show.

And he was a jolly good singer too.
