Good news for chocolate lovers

Cadbury Dairy Milk will be fair trade by Easter.

Now I know that CDM is fairly plebeian chocolate and that many of my friends have more refined tastes, but frankly I'm a chocolate pleb and I prefer milk chocolate to dark (which once you get above 65% cocoa mass tastes like burnt cardboard to my troglodyte palate).  There are plenty of nice fair ( Read more... )

That is very good news. Much as I prefer premium chocolate, I'm not averse to the odd block of Cadbury's (especially Fruit and Nut which I hope will be included in this move to Fair Trade), and it's good to see the fair trade movement gaining such momentum.

I'm with you. I can't take more than 65% before things taste dusty. It's good to know that we can get a cheap chocolate fix ethically. I am guilty of buying whatever food I can get cheaply and easily and I've not hunted around for fair trade chocolate. I'm glad it will now come to us.

even to a choccie snobling like myself that's pretty radical and exciting - let's hope more follow suit and then all the big companies get hounded to switch to fair trade coffee. and then all of them go organic! and then... I'm getting too excited. but one step is better than no step.
