I love it when white women start talking about how minorities and affirmative action are so bad. I just wanted to say that I think the best person should get the job. However, when you read those signs that say "Established or In business since 1918" or something like that, I always think to myself.... " Alot of minorities couldn't own businesses ( Read more... )

as a non-racist white woman, my opinion on things such as this are simple:

we are all of the human race. turn us ALL inside out and we're the same color. why does everyone have to be so blind to use race, ethnicity, gender, etc. as an excuse for ignorance.

one of these days (hopefully) we'll all grow up and stop the race card, gender bickering. it really turns my stomach.
then again... maybe i'm the ignorant one in believing in a better world. *shrugs*

I don't like bickering about race, and i certainly don't like people pulling the "race card". However, in my opinion as a non-racist black male with mostly white friends, I do see how white people she race. I know of your sister here on LJ, and if she is in pain you can't feel it yet you know of it. Same thing in this case. I don't want anyone giving blacks or anyone else specail treatment. However, I do believe in affirmative action. Sounds like i'm talking out of the side of my mouth but I assure you i'm not. I too hope that people will one day be able to "just get along", but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Well you know whites arent aware of white privilege. They've been trained by Sesame Street and Romper Room that everyone is the same color on the inside and we can all live happily now. These are the same people who can count how many black friends off the top of their head.

But i cant say you're right about everything cuz I still got beef with you ;P
