[VOICE/VIDEO] 001: Cry for the lost

Jan 03, 2011 00:49

...It keeps crying.

[The voice is quiet and halting. Angela speaks slowly, drawing out her words a little longer than usual. She sounds exhausted.]

This creature... the... the file says it's crying for its Momma. Is there... something I can do? I can't sleep.

[Not that she wants to. Sleeping means dreaming and even if the fire's gone and he's gone ( Read more... )

Have you tried calling it back into its Pokeball?

[She spoke as if it should have been obvious.]

[Angela remains unseen; the video still focusing on the Cubone.]

No. I won't do that.

Why not? [She examined the video carefully, having not seen a Cubone before.]

It- it would be... cruel. Like sending a crying child to their room and locking it in.

Crying for it's momma? It's...an orphan Pokemon? [Vanille can't help but feel sorry for it. She knows what it's like to be without parents.] You should hold it close. So it can hear your heartbeat-it always helped with me.

Y-yeah. It's... an orphan. [A pause.] You know, it's funny. You're the second person to tell me that.

[Angela stays out of sight, but obediently picks up the poor Cubone.]

The most comforting thing when your scared is someone else's heartbeat. [She holds her Mareep closer. Whether it's for its benefit or her own who knows] Hold him close to your chest tightly like a human baby and he'll feel safe and might stop crying.

[It takes her a minute to do so, supporting its head somewhat awkwardly against her chest. The cubone's crying takes a few minutes to ease before it simply cuddles up against her, all tired out.]

Their hearbeat, huh?

Well... I'm out here.

[Says the eleven-year-old wrapped in a blanket in Cherrygrove's Pokemon Center. The blanket is draped over her head and her three Pokemon-- a Sneasel, Rattata, and Trapinch. All three look a bit worried, save for the always-apathetic Sneasel.]
Um... [She has to think for a moment.] You could... try talking to it. They understand human, I think.

They understand? But they're... animals.

[Angela is still staying mostly out of sight, but she's briefly visible as she glances over the video.]

Ah- This place takes children too?

Yeah... but some animals can understand human-- speak it, too-- and I think these ones can. [Cats know human, at least-- she knows that!] At least, they know their attack names and stuff.

[She shrugs.] Yeah, I... guess it does. Haven't been here very long, but I've seen a few other kids too.

That's absurd... But I'll try it. Thanks. Animals can't speak human, though.

I've never seen a Pokemon do that before.

[All the wild Pokemon he'd captured either turned out to be complete derps or homicidal...never lonely.]

Maybe it's cold! It is winter and that's a young Pokemon...

Cold? [Just like a man... really.] I can... give it my sweater. [But she doesn't have much on underneath. This would be uncomfortable.]

[Oblivious skeleton is oblivious!]

It's important to bond with your pokemon early. Maybe try picking it up and letting it know there's nothing to be scared of.

Like with a... child? It's not frightened. It's in mourning.

[James flicks on the video, he had never seen a pokemon like this and well...]

[That voice. It sounds so familiar... But he can't place it. Perhaps this is due to the fact he's been here for months and hadn't heard her voice for that length of time.]

That's odd. Maybe you could try comforting it or something.

...James? [Angela swings the camera around to see if- and yes it was.] So you're here too... Is this some type of trick?

..........

A-Angela! What are you doing here!? [Man that voice did sound familiar and his sneaking suspicion was absolutely right!]

It's not a trick! I've been here for months I-I wow I wasn't expecting you here. [FFFF And here he is all the way in the Ilex forest! Completely too far to help poor Angela out.]

Umm... I'm sorry I don't exactly know how to help your pokemon, all I can say is try to comfort it somehow.

Oh, really now. I run into you here, too, and yet you don't know what that is? You men are all alike. Did you ask for me to be brought here? This is too much of a coincidence!
