I don't agree with Mr. Ralph Reed. Bush has alienated Christianity from politics, in my opinion as a Christian.

Well I'm secular for the most part but it just strikes me as silly to write off 70% of the country (or however many christians there are out there), as crazy just because you disagree with the politics of a few. It is also kind of unfair to give that curtesy to other groups but not the christians, such as muslims and jewish people who can also at times hold extreme views but are generally mainstream.

Of course, as secular people are less intellectual and more mainsteam now, particularly amongst younger americans, the mainstream christians might have to try harder to communicate with them too. It's a process. Diplomacy works both ways, but I've seen some effort in that direction from both sides so maybe they can reach a more reasonable compromise at some point in the future.

The religious right is just awfully corporate, I suspect most rational christians don't like them that much either.

I'm not sure I see 'secular people' as less intellectual...

Also, for me, if Bush did anything with Christianity and Politics, he may have made it easier for a politician to claim to be a Christian. Honestly, though, I don't see Bush's religion in action much during his presidency. On the contrary. To start with [and among other things]: he did more to harm "God's green earth", then help it. He also lead this country further down the path of fiscal irresponsibility.

I do agree with you, that it's wrong to lump a bunch of people together, based on a short few, and call them all crazy.
