Blonde moments

I am not blonde. I have never been blonde, although when I was a kid I used to wish I could be. I'm not sure why, it isn't even my favourite hair colour. I think brunettes are more striking. Which is funny, because I used to be one such a long time ago that most people who know me have never even seen it. But my point is that although I have had ( Read more... )

Was there cream in the pumpkin soup? Because if there wasn't, it'd still be fine. It's just vegetables, and it's already slush anyway. Nothing that wouldn't happen after a few days (or in the case of pumpkins, months) sitting somewhere.
Poor, poor, wasted food.
But now I want to make pumpkin soup! Can you email me a recipe? Oh, wait... I don't have a blender... but I could mash it I s'pose?

There's ALWAYS cream in my pumpkin soup. It had developed a mouldy skin and it smelled really foul. Poor wasted food indeed, I miss that pumpkin soup.

Unless I happen to be cooking it for someone who doesn't eat dairy, and then it has neither cream nor butter and it isn't as good.

It happens to the best of us...

Do you use bacon bones in your pumpkin soup? My dad had a kick-arse pumpkin soup recipe which involved BACON BONES! But I never liked it when I was a kid. When I got older and started to appreciate pumpkin soup, it was too late. He'd become a vegetarian and stopped cooking anything from scratch, especially anything with meat. I'll just have to make my own.

How can you be a vegetarian without cooking things from scratch! I wouldn't have thought there was enough in the way of vegetarian fast-food to sustain a person. Unless you went raw vegan, and then all you have to do is cut things into smaller pieces every so often. (is confused)

There are heaps of vegetarian fake-meat products that you can buy and either fry/bake/microwave. Other than that, my step-mother cooks. She can cook a lot of things from scratch, like quiche, lasagne, spaghetti, etc... Actually that's pretty much the extent of her "from scratch" recipes hahaha. If you don't count fake roast. She can also do gluten steaks from scratch.
anyway, there're more not-from-scratch vegetarian foods than you'd think. Plenty of fast food as well: subway, pizza, kfc (just kidding), sushi, indian and other asian cuisine.

I guess so.
I have some friends who went vego for a month just to lose weight. When you cut out meat, you cut out a lot and HAVE to find an alternative. It got them into good eating habits. Even something as simple as bringing snacks with you (museli bar and a piece of fruit) stopped them eating more junk then they thought possible!
