I’m a writer. It is the gift I was given and I am grateful for it. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Still, I have to wonder what I would do with a different talent: specifically music. When I was younger I chose music to listen to based on its lyrics (classical music is a whole other blog post). Lyrics to music drove me. I guess that comes from me ( Read more... )

I know what you mean! *sorry if you're getting this twice I had to fix something on it*
I love the way music talks to people. If you like Daichi, then maybe you'll like Yuya Matsushita. I'm going to share some of his stuff with you cause I don't remember if I have before or not.

*Last Snow* (he also has a song, more upbeat, called First Snow with Sista on the track)

Here on youtube

And Mr. Broken Heart

Which should be here on youtube

I can't wait to listen!

I saw on your other (deleted) comment that you love their Engrish. Yeah, Daichi did that on Derete My Memories but his new song (released like 4 days ago) is Lulaby and let me tell you girl.. it is not Ruraby - it is Lulaby. He is getting so good! (Lana said he is practicing for me lol)

I'll check into the links you gave me today or tomorrow! (finishing up the float and cramming for that final today AND Lana's concert tonight.)

Yeah, sorry I didn't think the videos loaded when I did it originally ...
When Yuya had recorded those songs, his English wasn't very good. I don't know if he's improved any or not honestly, but I am in love with his voice :)

Daichi is getting better. I like lullaby *squee*

Busy, busy, busy. Keep at it love! I know you'll do just fine! Ganbatte!

Oh yes, I do like him! I will check out more of his stuff.

I have been listening to a Korean band lately also. They are now broken up but I don't care. (For the record I am totally fangirling over the member JaeJoong {aka Hero} because looking at him actually hurts because he is so freakin pretty). Some of their stuff is a bit too pop for me, but some of their sings are soooo good. Here (not sure how to code them so I'll just put the links) are some of the DBSK songs I like:

Wrong Number - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usF2ihdYIj8

Why Did I Fall in Love With You (all Korean) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP4A468sNTU

Anyhow.. just a little different language but since I don't speak any of them it's unimportant to me what they speak.

As someone who sings and comes from a very musical family, I've always listened to the music first, then the lyrics. I am surprised sometimes when the lyrics don't match the mood the music sets.

I agree, music and lyrics that are totally opposites are truly weird (and wrong). I remember a song that was originally done with haunting music and lyrics from the troubled soul.. then a decade and a half later they put those lyrics to techno. I get enraged when that song comes on. Not cool.

Surprisingly I come from a musical family. I myself though missed that gene. (Mom was a singer, my cousin is in her 50s and still sings in her band every weekend all over the D.C. area, my daughter is in college on a music scholarship, I could give more examples but you get the idea) Wish I could hold a note. I truly do. I envy singers.
