I'm through with my homework for tomorrow :) Not only that, I have to leave in about 10mins for a meeting with Crusaders for Life, the on-campus Pro-Life group. I'm pro-life, so I figure I'll check it out, see what it's all about, what they do etc. Then at 8 there's this thing on modesty the Catherine Hall, I hope it doesn't run in too much with ( Read more... )

You're Pro-Life? Really?

I think that is the first thing, in perhaps two years, that we've actually disagreed upon.

I'm pro-choice, obviously.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on abortion. It's always fun to get a fresh point of view from someone else. Do you have time to engage in a discussion with me? :)

And good luck with your homework!

Yes I am, I guess in largely has to do with me being Catholic. Just the fact that two people come together, it's beautiful, and there's that chance a life may come out of it. I think it also goes against nature. I think that people who have sex to fool around should also have to take responsibility of their actions. We can get into debate into this if you'd like :) I haven't debated in a long time...you could refresh me :)

Just to mention as well: Crusaders for Life is from Natural conception to Natural death, aka we also pray for those on death roll and those families affected by it. Texas is one of the states that still does it, and I didn't know this til I went to the meeting, but apparently we have them alot, like maybe 3 a month, and at one point there were even 3 in one week.

But what about instances of rape? That's not two people coming together--that is one person imposing himself/herself on another ( ... )

You are right when it comes to posing a threat of rape or a threat of losing the mother's life. In those cases the church is usually understanding of that. However, in some cases of rape, I don't know. I remember freshman year we watched this woman speaker who said she was the daughter of a rape victim, that she of course never knew her father, but despite the act, her mother decided to give her life.

It's a tough subject though. I used to say it is a woman's body and she has a right, but as I grew older, just the thought of getting rid of something inside you...it's just a horrible thought for me, because you could never know what that life could have been.
