I never identified with Barbie when I was younger. After all, she was blond and beautiful. I was the bland, mousy type. She was slender and  long-legged, and lived in a gorgeous dream house. I happen to think that childless women age more quickly. Their sharp sophistication leads to a jaded perfection, and then to isolated, mortifying age. Children keep you young if you let them- they are full of life and hope and spirit.

You believe childless women age more quickly..hmnn...okay, okay...the idea's growing on me. Yes, yes, you're right they do!! Another reason I can add as to why I had them when I'm kicking myself for doing it!!

As a childless woman, I never thought of myself as sophisticated or jaded. Now, in my 50's I don't believe I lead an isolated life nor do I believe I will die from "mortifying age".

Quality of life is what you make it. Carve out a comfy niche and be happy.

There won't be any dipping my toes in...it'll be a full throttle jump-in-and-freeze-my-butt whirl when I get there. BTW, I had a teeny bit of a shock last evening reading the Dade County Gazette (don't you love that name). There was an AARP invite and anybody 50 and older was invited....girlfriend, I had to sit up and take notice! That' almost me!!
