Vision

Aug 24, 2005 00:26

I went to bed in an alright mood, really. I got some paperwork out of the way for my spankin new property, and I was feeling...well okay. Nothing too dire was hanging over my head.

It woke me up out of a dead sleep. I fell out of bed. It was bad. I felt like I was going to be sick, too, good thing I wasn't because ew.

But I saw him. I saw him. ( Read more... )

I round the corner and almost collide with Corelia coming in from outside. I manage to keep the doughnut box from getting smashed, but her expression looks like she might want to smash other things. "Hey, Cordy, everything okay?" I ask, nervous. I know she was pissed last night.

I shake my head, striding past him. "No is not strong enough a word." I say, wondering if I should even bother taking a weapon, or if that would just be stupid. Probably stupid. It's not like I'm a fighter. Well, okay I can fight, but I'm not a 'stick me on the tenth floor and watch me battle my way out' fighter.

Okay, what's this? This is not her being pissed at me--I don't think, anyway. I set the doughnuts on a chair, and take her arm to slow her down. "Whoa, what's wrong? Did something happen?"

I almost try to shrug him off, but don't at the last second. "Yes. I got a vision. I'd like to go to Wolfram and Hart now and shake our friend out of them, want to come?" I ask. I'm going either way.

So VERY not okay.

I reach a hand over to her comfortingly. "I'm sorry, that had to be hard to see. And you said Willow confirmed he's alive...somewhere." I'm thinking, hard. The vision sounds absurd, but usually they're literal. The guy in the suit--she's just guessing he's a lawyer, but he sounds like he fits the bill. Still, he could be a smarmy producer or almost anything, couldn't he? Hell, maybe Gunn's in a movie...

"I was thinking our prisoner downstairs works for them, she might have seen him around. Hell, she might know where they keep the torture devices these days." I nod toward the doughnuts. "I was gonna see if she's hungry enough to give us something. We could ask her about Gunn."

My eyes harden. "...right now she'll be lucky if I don't cut the information out of her. I'm Not Happy right now, Angel. But fine, you're right, maybe she knows something." I stand up and pace around a little, trying to rid myself of my terrible feeling of urgency that won't leave me alone.

I give her an apologetic look. "I promised Willow there would be no torture. But you can insult her a lot if you want, you're good at that." I can feel her tension, and I'm trying to defuse it, but I don't think it's gonna work. I know the visions give her an added sense of urgency, but we can't afford to be sloppy--we'll get nothing that way.

I look up at him and frown. "What's that supposed to mean?" I snap.

I'm still struggling with confusion. "You know I don't notice clothes, Cordy. Or shoes. When did you suddenly go designer again, and how the hell did you pay for the hotel?"

"Because I'm not quite as dumb as people take me for." I say, stepping up and trying to reach around him for the door handle. "That's how. Point being it's mine, take good care of it."

I shrug. "Oookay. And I'd like to point out, I wasn't the one who made a hole in the lobby ceiling, even if I was an ass." I open the door for her and gesture at the stairs. "Ladies first?"

I poke him in the chest. "You so deserved that." I say before walking completely past him. "And you know it wouldn't kill you to notice my hair every now and then, or my clothes, or shoes...you've got good taste, you should use it and recognize it in others."

I laugh, softly at first, almost a murmur, then it comes out louder, bellowing, echoing in the dark dankness of the basement. All my work to help out these people and they’re the one’s that’ve stuck me in a cage. Talk about irony.

Still, if I don’t offer them something they’re going to keep me locked down here. And something tells me Eve isn’t about to spring me out anytime soon… or Darla, for that matter. “Alright, I’ll play,” I say, reaching out my shaking hand to take the donuts (I am a little hungry). “What do you want to know?”

"I'd like to know about Gunn." I say. "Charles Gunn. Up until a bit ago, dead."

"A good place to start," I agree, setting the doughnut box on the floor in easy reach of Kennedy, for now. "Know him, or anything about him?"

“You might know more about him than I do, seeing as you’re the one that killed him,” I smirk and run my hand over the bars of the cage. Feeling the consistancy. I’m guessing not many people have tried to break out of it, though a few of the bars are more worn than others. Bent out of shape. Could be my way out.

“The Senior Partners took an invested interest in him some month ago, about the time he died, if I recall. And before you could say recevoir, well…” I smirk, “he’s been working in the Special Projects Devision under Ryan ever since.”

"Would I lie to you?" I raise an eyebrow.

"As I said, big place. Wouldn't know." I'm starting to get bored with this good cop bad cop routine.

I doubt we're going to any more out of her about Cordy's vision. "I have a question, Kennedy. What's behind the pyromania ad the violent rampage on all the harmless demons in the city? Just target practice, or do you have some issues you're working out?"

I fix him with an ice cold stare, "does your head hurt?"

I smile coldly back at her. "Why yes, although mostly it's from my witch friend throwing me through the ceiling. Your little love tap only hurt for a day."

I glance at Cordy. "I think she mostly needs to come down off the drugs they've been feeding her, don't you? Maybe a couple of weeks under lock and key would do it. And hey, maybe she'll remember more stuff about Gunn with all that time to think."
