This is exactly why I'm leaning toward going back to the US or Canada and teaching ESL there, rather than in a foreign country. I want to teach multilingual classes where we can talk about real life stuff that is relevant to them because they live in an English-speaking country. Right now, 90% of my students are just studying English as a hobby or because their boss told them to. There's no strong motivation, and it's frustrating.
One of the students, unprompted, sang a bit of her country's anthem in front of the entire class.
When I did the CELTA program, one of the students was a former concert violinist. She played the violin at our farewell party, and it was AMAZING.

I'm glad you're enjoying the program. :)
