This morning I am thinking about China

As I looked out over the city this morning, I was reminded of China. The clouds along the western horizon formed a dark grey line with small peaks of white peaking over the top where the sun from the east highlighted a few fluffier clouds. It reminded me of standing on a rooftop in Shijiazhuang and seeing the distant peaks of mountains barely

Cool! Except.... the thing about starting a new job is that you don't get vacation time right away. I can't afford to take a week off without pay, and I can't afford to piss them off that much. We can't really go to Asia or Europe in a weekend, but maybe we can come up with something. Hmmm....

I think about that view a lot. I used to stand on the roof between classes in the morning, and think about following the sun over those mountains into the West, to Tibet and Xinjiang, to Russia and across to Europe.

Chicago is an adventure itself, but you are right -- there is *so* much more than all this.
