Why do people feel the need to dislike, hate or obsess over people that they have never actually spoken to, or have maybe spoken to once or twice 3 or 4 years ago

Well, to put in my 2c, now, because i'm an over-opinionated motherfucker:
Most people who talk shit about you are only making inferences. They aren't giving any potential recipient any meaningful information about you anyway. Its as if they hand over a picture of some sort of twisted monster that bares no resemblance to you and declare that the picture "is" you. It took me about five or six months to realize a word used to describe me is not me. It's quite mind-blowing when it all "clicks."
If they take offense to you as a person, then their value system is warped and inhuman. If they are taking offense to the things you do and the values you hold and the opinions you express, then that's different. That's normal. Often times the otherness is in themselves, not the person they project the feelings on to. I know people talk shit about me behind my back. Ultimately, your reaction to it will determine how much of it effects your daily functioning.
I think you're bang on the money with the whole 'people bitch about you because they're bored, have no life and enjoy the controversy'. Simple as that. And needless to say, they're 'tards and not worth your time.
'Cause judging people is just plain fun! See some kid wearing star pants? Plainly he's a sub-human! Some teenage girl with eyeliner and a weird fringe? Obviously a drama queen slut!
Just how people are. Instead of wondering why people you barely know talk shit about you, figure out why you care about what people you barely know think of you.
normally i woudln't care but certain instances have occurred when said peoepl have gone out of their way to ruin anythign good i had going at the time (boys music etc)
