Mrs. Lovett

Mrs. Lovett has finally been officially started! I've got my knickers done and I started working on the skirt. I have no pattern at all, so things are going slowly, but I think they're working fairly well so far...I have the bottom ruffle sewn on, but haven't put the back ruffles or trim on yet ( Read more... )

I did Mrs. Lovett last year but it looks like yours will be way more awesome than mine. I didn't bother with bloomers, and the only part that I crafted was some futzing with the blouse and crocheted gloves.

I decided to do the bloomers and actually hike up my skirt - the original idea came from not having enough fabric. I ended up nixing that fabric all together and going with some sheets my mom had. They're really not the right color, but...I've been searching for-EVER for proper floral/paisley fabric and nada. So, this will have to do.

I plan to make my blouse and the trim that goes on the ruffle, but I bought the gloves. I can't crochet or knit at all. Heh.

Hopefully the blouse will work - the only pattern I have on hand that seems to be close is a pirate shirt. So...yeah. modifications galore and I just hope I can fit it all under the waiste cincher! *gack*

I am sure your Mrs. L was great - you do great costumes! Do you have pictures?

I bought a shirt at Goodwill, tore it a bit, and stuck some red tulle in it and added some black and gold trim (with glue!). I already had a skirt and a corset. I did buy striped stockings and made the gloves special. Will's costume is all store bought and I did his makeup. I don't know about Erin, who's dressed as Toby. She just showed up appropriately costumed.
