May i just say *muffled giggles* that i think you have the most *excellent* taste? *grin*
Translation: I agree with your choices. *giggle* I read the Liaden books not all that long ago, and in fact, Bujold was also a grand discovery! Mmmmm, have i been feasting, or what?! *grin*
Alaric..... i just finished those.... and i decided to cast Snooks in that role. *L*
I think you'd also like the series by Katherine Kerr.... It's set in a celtic world called Deverry, and follows several souls as they work out their weirds through multiple lives.
*nodding thoughtfully* I think i've read those.... i'm so bad with names that i'm not sure, but Deverry does ring a bell. And i can't go check, cuz most of the books are presently in the shed waiting to have the fire extinguisher chems vac'd off of them. *snort*
I've read a LOT of Katherine Kerr, and while she has some wonderful ideas, sometimes her writing is lacking, imho. She leaves these gaping holes, or handles a scenario in an off-handed way that doesn't make for a complete picture. As i said, i love her *ideas*, i stick it out for the plot, but i have found her writing to be.... inconsistent. *shrug*
*glances over at a small pile of books*
*LOL* Wait! I'm describing Katherine KURTZ, not Katherine KERR! *LOL* I'm such a bean-head!
Come to think of it, i think YOU suggested Bujold to me in the first place! *L* I think you and i have very similar tastes in reading.
I thought I had. -And lots of people get the two Katherines mixed up. I once had someone very snootily reprimand me that I should check the spelling etc etc when I wanted to recommened something ...and it turned out he hadn't a clue that I had gotten the spelling right, he was just ignorant of the other author... ;D
