I was reading this book from the library about a woman who is going through some trying times in her life and starts a blog and, of course, says too much and gets in trouble. Of course, there's also Julie and Julia, where the woman blogged about cooking her way through Julia Child ( Read more... )

Now that I have a release date on my novel, I'm at the point where blogging could be a way to attract new readers -- however, the jury's out on whether it helps, among other writers. In any case, knowing everyone I meet could potentially buy my book makes any step I take on the internet seem more like work.

I simply find I don't have much time to blog...not and write books and articles. However, it seems like you can use Facebook more and just post some comments and it gets as much notice as blogging on your own site or on LJ.

More, maybe.

I created a Veronica Cummer fanpage on FB. That seemed to be the way to go...but it is always a struggle to figure out how to promote your work. Especially when I'd rather write than self-promote.

It's always a struggle, plus you seldom know whether a certain method or plan is really doing you any good ... or if you do get feedback, whether it's worth the time and effort put into it. The truth is, I work a job where I have a certain amount of downtime, and do a lot of my blogging work there -- otherwise, I wouldn't have time to do it, either.
