Whoops. What happened to these? FAILURE!
Haha, to make up for it, I'll post like, MOST EMBARRASSINGLY FANGIRL-ISH drawing ever, ok?

Like I said, I am
TOTALLY FICKLE when drawing ~*future families*~. Except the eldest is actually probably the same girl from the earlier pic sooo... maybe less fickle than I originally thought? IDK!
As far as the drawing goes, I like the idea, but I'm not sure it's worth finishing beyond this sketch. Anyone have an opinion on it? So much of it is in my head (as you'll see) I've lost perspective or something.
Also, I figure that Aang should be wearing long pants, like "grown-up" airbenders do, apparently. But I swear, every time I tried, they looked like pajamas! It was terrible! So uh, short-knee-pant-things it is, I guess!
Sheesh, there's so much going on in this pic, I hardly know where I should start explaining myself.
Ok, first of all, the original premise was to draw Aang holding the infant child and Katara carrying the toddler, in the grand tradition of the Avatar genderfuck, since general convention says Mommies hold the babies, etc. And then it sort of spiraled out from there. Oops? (Aang is carrying the pack though, because...
that's how he rolls?)
So, ok. Aang and Katara have five (5!) kids here! The eldest daughter is around 11 or 12, the twin boys are about 6, the girl in Katara's arm's is 2-ish and the baby is under a year old. I would guess that they planned their first child, and the second, which turned out to be twins! The twins are something of a handful, considering their big sister (while attentive and caring) is a terrible influence. They had planned on having another child, but didn't actually plan the arrival of their next daughter. The baby was a total "Oops!" pregnancy, but they love her/him all the same. <3
Their appearances! Gosh, well I figure that the kids clothing will resemble Water Tribe digs the most because uh, Katara is probably the one choosing their outfits!
They let the kids pretty much dress however they want though, as they get older. Because the Avatar travels a lot, and his wife isn't about to be left behind all the time, the kids have seen pretty much the whole world at a young age. (After all, Aang comes from a nomadic tradition and I've always thought Katara showed signs of wanderlust. I imagine them to be a very close family, but on the go quite a bit.) Because of this, the kids outfits are often made up of several pieces from many different places. For example, their eldest is wearing a jacket she got last year while visiting Uncle Zuko, Aunt Mai, and "Insert Their Daughter's Name Here" in the Fire Nation.
The twins have buzzed hair, not because they're airbenders (although they might be, I didn't care to figure the bending business out) but because their older sister convinced them they'd look really great if they had hair like Daddy's! Haha, yeah, someone's mother wasn't very happy that night.
The other thing I guess is that the oldest girl is wearing Katara's necklace from the series. Storytime!
See, she was excited to be a big sister to the twins and was happy to have another girl in the family when her next sibling was born. But when the newest baby was born, she started to feel really left out, since the little kids where hogging all of her parent's attention.
So, Katara sat down with her one day and talked to her about the responsibility that comes with caring for your siblings. How she understands that it's a big, really difficult job. And how takes a lot of willpower, since sometimes the people you're caring for don't understand how much you're doing for them. After her daughter was feeling a bit better about herself, Katara passed on the necklace to her, explaining it's history to their family and what it meant personally. The significance was not lost on her, and the eldest took to her big sister duties really well after that. Although she has a hard time reeling in her mischievous inclinations, she takes very good care of all her younger siblings, as well as her little cousins when they're visiting Uncle Sokka and Auntie Suki.
Katara was happy to see that her daughter prized the necklace as much as she had at her age, but Aang noticed that she couldn't stop fidgeting at her throat now that her neck was bare. Taking what he thought was maybe a little risk, Aang presented her with a new necklace he made a few days later. Yeah, that won him a lot of brownie points. XD Turns out there really isn't any reason he can't both save the world and make jewelry for his forever girl.
Hmm, what else to say? The twin at Katara's side is about to tattle on his brother and sister... or, as I look at it now, perhaps inform his mother that he has to go to the bathroom. Whatever! Also, Aang is giving a dubious look at his grinning children because hey, he is WAY familiar with that expression and knows that very little good follows it (from a parental standpoint, anyway). Um... hey, look! Momo!
That's all, I think. Haha, have I embarrassed myself enough yet? XD
