Yay! I love Doctor Who. I loved the earlier seasons too, but this season was astonishingly (probably only so because of the previous ones) happy! Also, I love the Peruvian folk band bit. There are so many good lines! And I love the Doctor and Rory interacting. And Amy. And Vincent Van Gogh! And so many other things. :)
Hee! I have heard a lot of people express their surprise over how *happy* this season was, but that's kind of a good thing, in my book. I mean, I love sad endings, too! But happy endings are generally underrated! There's nothing wrong with giving the people more than they dared to hope for! XD
And oh my gosh, yes! I love all the characters! (Both one-shot and recurring.) Vincent was amazing. And the show overall is so quotable and hilarious!
Doctor: Did I mention we have comfy chairs? Angel Bob: We have no need of comfy chairs. Doctor: Ha! I made him say "comfy chairs."
Oh, I always love happy endings! They are the type I prefer!
Hahaha, I love "Angel Bob" as a name, I'd forgotten that; and the Doctor is sooo good at messing with people! I also love love loved the Dalek serving tea! (I have a plushy Dalek that I knitted a few years ago!)
Thanks! Alas, I didn't make it, but it's so happy! I love yours, I think that was my favorite episode, even though I always feel so sorry for poor Vincent whenever I study him. Right after that episode I had to go listen to Starry Night by Don McLean. <3
LOL! Welcome to the madness. I too fell for the Doctor ridiculously easy. And, of course, Amy. What's NOT to love about Amy Pond?! She's just frickin awesome!
It's funny, and true, what you said about fangirling. Never thought about it as self preservation, but it totally makes sense.
Haha, I feel like I gave it up too easy, y'know? Like I should have made the show work for it more than I did. But no. It just walked up with its smooth talking and pretty leading ladies and I couldn't resist!
I love Amy so much! Apparently there exist other people in the world who do not find her all kinds of delightful, but oh well. Some people also don't like puppies or sunshine. *shrugs* I find everything about her character endearing, so it's ok. XD
I also really, really like the Doctor, too! And I mean, that was something I really wasn't expecting! From what I had gleaned from the internet about the previous seasons... I dunno! I just wasn't prepared to really *care* for him and his thoughts and feelings the way I do now. I don't know if that was just my misunderstanding prior to watching, or if this combination of story/actor is more up my alley. Either way, I'm happy! <333
I can't wait for the Christmas special! How about you?
I started watching about halfway through season four. 10 was alright, but like you said there wasn't a real connection. Then Amy comes along with 11 and his "cool bowtie" and sunk my battleship.
I never stood a chance. XD
I hope they keep this pair around for a while. It's a nice break from serious Doctor and far more engaging. Just finished watching the season 5 finale. OMFG!! I need MOAR!!
I was really worried I wouldn't like the newest Doctor. It took me and entire season to warm up to Tennent's 10, after loving the 9th Doctor so much as my first experience with Doctor Who.
I was overjoyed to love 11 right from the first few minutes of the episode and I knew Amy Pond was gonna be <3 as soon as I first saw little fearless Amy who doesn't even bat an eye at the strange man in the blue box that just landed in her yard.
Oh my gosh, you should totally watch it if you can! The last ep just aired this past weekend, so the whole season arc is just ready for new viewers! With your love of fairytales and girls going on adventures, I think you'd really enjoy it, since those are kind of the central themes!
It is also really, REALLY funny. I don't want to spoil anything for you, in case you do watch it! However, not only is the writing really hilarious, but the actors are brilliant at bringing the comedy.
Hee! The show is full of stuff like that! Chris and I actually had to pause the video several times during each episode because we were missing important plot things from laughing too much. XD
