I just finished watching 2:37.
It's easily the most heartbreaking movie ever. Not even Mufasa's death or Titanic made me cry this hard.
2:37
is a movie that takes place in an australian high school and follows the life of six students of that school, showing us their inner thoughts and their problems.
The film begins by a scene where a young girl banging on the door pf a toilet, asking the person who's inside to open the door. Soon enough, someone else arrives and asks for the janitor. When the janitor finally opens the door, we know that the person who was inside killed herself. So the movie basically consists on us guessing who's going to kill himself or herself, whether it be Melody, her brother Marcus, Steven, Luke, Sean or Sarah.
The themes of this movie are quite shocking as it's about rape which results in an unwanted pregnancy, suicide, eating disorder and basically the reactions of others. It's really horrifying how some were treated by people about the same age as them. I guess difference is something that no one never really likes but there is a limit.
By the end of the movie, my tears were just running down my face when Melody cried. And at the suicide scene, the near-hysterical sobbing was so unbearable I nearly stopped watching.
The thing is, the person who killed herself wasn't who anyone expected. It wasn't any of the students who were followed around, no matter what their problem was. It was someone who was invisible for everyone else, who pretended being happy and tried helping other people. But they were so engrossed in their own problems they never noticed her
.
All in all, it was a rather good film and I think you should watch it. Prepare the tissues. And be warned: some scenes are really horrible.
Edit: Meh, HTML fail...
