Mike was just making himself some sticky rice and infusing the cooking water with an orange habanero one of my coworkers gave me. All of a sudden, he disappeared into the bathroom - apparently, he had touched his eyes after handling the pepper without remembering to wash his hands first. I had to take him by the hand and lead him down the hallway

Tell him to stick his hands down his pants. His eye won't hurt anymore . . . at least, in comparison.

OMG. i can't even imagine!!! onion fumes are bad enough!!! i hope he's OK!!

OMG, poor Mike! I'll never forget this time when I was a little kid. My parents were chopping veggies for Szechuan beef and my Dad went to the bathroom after chopping jalopenos. Next we hear him screaming and yelling in pain, then my Mommers runs into the bathroom and soon we hear her laughing and running water. My bro and I were really scared until she came out and told us Dad touched himself with hot pepper hands. Then it became a bit of a family joke. :P
